What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership. This is a program where you, the customer, become a partner with the farm. Your preseason purchase helps us, the farmers, purchase seeds, soil and equipment that will help our farm have a successful and prosperous growing season. In return, you, the customer, receive weekly shares of the veggies grown, harvested fresh and just for you. Win-win!

A CSA is a great way for you and your family to try new veggies and start the WI growing season off early. Have fun unpacking a different variety of veggies every week! Enjoy a mix of spring veggies while you’re planting your gardens or waiting for the farmers markets to fill up with seasonal produce. Many of our spring crops will be grown in our hoop houses to help us get a jump start on the season.

Farming is a risk though and as we have seen with yearly polar vortexes and prolonged periods of drought, there is no guarantee that Mother Nature cooperates. A CSA subscriber does help the farmer take on some of that risk. With a bountiful year, there is a lush supply of crops, with a harsh, challenging year, the shares may be smaller.

Sullivan Family Farm Spring CSA will work to minimize the risks through reserving the right to supplement products if needed from other farms in the area using similar, sustainable growing methods. We also reserve the right to extend the share pick ups into June if needed. No refunds will be given after purchase. No substitutes given for vegetables your family does not prefer (feel free to leave it-we’ll donate it!).

Our spring CSA will consist of 5 shares of vegetables to be picked up on Fridays in May from the farm between 10-8pm or from the Revolution Public Market Friday between 12-4pm. Please ensure you are able to pick up during this time or make arrangements for another to pick up for you. ***We will not be doing weekly ordering options***

Each share will consist of a mix of veggies, heavy on greens and spring root crops as well as microgreens. An example would be 1/2 lb of spinach, head lettuce, salad mix, green onions, broccoli microgreens, sweet salad turnips and baby beets. We’ll include weekly recipes to help with your dinner planning.
